Sustainable Materials

Two main types of leather dominate the market: Chrome-Tanned Leather and Vegetable-Tanned Leather.

If you’ve seen Erin Brockovich, starring Julia Roberts, you might recall the devastating effects of hexavalent chromium (Chromium VI) contamination. This same harmful chemical plays a key role in the production of chrome-tanned leather, where it can leach into the environment during manufacturing.

Chrome-tanned leather is the most common type of leather used today. Why? It’s faster and cheaper to produce, making it the go-to choice for mass production. Chances are, your leather couch or that “genuine leather” handbag in your closet was made using this method.

While chrome tanning creates soft, flexible leather, its environmental impact is significant, which is why sustainable alternatives like vegetable-tanned leather are so important.

We are dedicated to using only the finest vegetable-tanned leather, crafted without the use of toxic chemicals. This eco-friendly material is not only durable and beautiful but also biodegradable, ensuring it leaves a minimal impact on the planet over time.

In addition, we prioritize sustainability by upcycling scrap chrome-tanned leather—giving new life to materials that would otherwise end up as waste. By repurposing these scraps, we reduce environmental harm and create something meaningful from what might have been discarded.

To further our commitment to the environment, all of our packaging is completely plastic-free and biodegradable, ensuring that every aspect of our products aligns with our mission to protect the planet.
