We’re a passionate mother-daughter duo who share two great loves: our dogs and caring for the environment. What started as a quest to create the perfect silent leather pet tag has blossomed into something much bigger.
With a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and sustainability, we’ve expanded our creations to include personalized collars, leashes, and a wide variety of pet-themed accessories and gifts. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to celebrate the bond between you and your pet while protecting the planet we all call home.

How It Started: The Story Behind Mountain Peak Pets
When our family gets together, the chaos of seven dogs with clinking, jangling tags is enough to make anyone's head spin. The constant noise wasn’t just frustrating for us—it was clear our dogs weren’t fans of it either. That’s when we decided something had to change.
It all started with a simple idea: a silent pet tag to make our family gatherings more peaceful for both humans and pups.
Heather (Mom) has been working with leather for decades, long before Mel (daughter) was even born. Crafting runs in our blood, and as we brainstormed designs, we realized we wanted our creations to be more than just functional—they had to be sustainable too.
As we learned more about the production process of chrome-tanned leather, we knew we couldn’t contribute to the harmful toxins often associated with it. Instead, we set out to make a difference by focusing on materials that are better for the environment.
At Mountain Peak Pets, we’re proud to say:
We use only vegetable-tanned leather, which is biodegradable and eco-friendly, offering durability without compromising sustainability.
We upcycle scraps of chrome-tanned leather, giving these materials a second life instead of letting them go to waste. While chrome-tanned leather releases toxins as it ages, reusing it helps prevent further environmental harm.
Here’s an interesting fact: not all "vegan leather" is as eco-friendly as it seems. Many vegan leathers are made from plastics that aren’t biodegradable, merely prolonging the time they spend in landfills.
